Abstract:
A motor drive (13) is provided which drives a brushless DC motor (5). The motor drive (13) is provided with: a position detection unit (6) which detects the position of the brushless DC motor (5) from the induced voltage of the brushless DC motor (5) and a threshold value, and which generates position information indicating the position of the brushless DC motor (5); a PWM generation unit (10) which drives the brushless DC motor (5) with PWM on the basis of the position information; and a threshold value changing unit (11) which switches the threshold value of the position detection unit (6) depending on whether the PWM duty cycle is ON or OFF. The position detection unit (6) switches the timing of the position detection to occur during the PWM ON or OFF cycle, depending on the PWM duty ON ratio.
