Technical Field

[1] This is the invention of Multi-Functional Glasses, which embeds micro mp3 player inside the frame. Multi-Function Glasses will provide the latest hi-tech life without the risk of loss, for the technology is combined to optical glasses. It can be used as portable USB memory and its magnesium blocks harmful electromagnetic waves, but enhances radio frequencies, and is environment-friendly. The lithium-polymer rechargeable battery make the long-running play time and with the built-in Bluetooth it can be used as mobile phone hands-free. Background Art

[2] CD (Compact Disc) has been a dominant music media. Users a CD and listen to music using a CD player. CD has many benefits that the media has long life and the sound quality does not change over time. However, users have to buy new media to listen to new music and additionally CD player as well.

[3] An mp3 player addresses all these problems. Users can download mp3 music file into an mp3 player's memory and can listen to the music. Users can add, play or delete the files easily and conveniently. It is also more portable and convenient to carry, compared to the conventional size of CD player

[4] However, users also need to buy an expensive mp3 player to enjoy all the benefit, and because it is in small size, there is more risk of loss, not like living necessaries such as glasses.

[5] There are a few so-called functional glasses on the market, which has earphones attached on the side of temple and receive audio signal from an external mp3 player. But because it simply attaches wireless earphones, the reception is not stable, the frame becomes relatively heavy and even generate harmful electromagnetic wave, causing health and safety concerns. Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention [37] All the terms and concepts used in this specification is not limited to their literal definitions, but flexibly understood in the context of describing the concept of the

MFG (Multi-function Glasses). All the exemplary pictures here are for illustration purpose only and do not cover every concept of this invention. There can be many kinds of variations and substitutes in real production of the concept. [38] The followings are the detailed illustration of to-be products. Picture 1 is the view of the product from above, Picture 2 the view from below, Picture 3 the view from the left, and Picture 4 the view from the right. [39] The concept of MFG (Multi-function Glasses) applies to an optical glasses frame with a pair of temples. It is made from magnesium and has Player Unit that plays mp3 file and radio and also can be used as USB memory stick. With built-in Bluetooth it connects mobile phone as hands-free kit.

Mode for the Invention [40] The Multi-function Glasses consist of Player Unit (100), Memory Unit (200),

Power Supply (300). Output Terminal (400), Earphone Bed (500), USB 2.0 Port (600), and Mode Switch (700). [41] The Player Unit (100) is installed inside of a temple and plays mp3 file and radio.

The Player Unit supports all popular music such as mp3, WMA, Ogg, and Audio ASF.

It is recommended to use MPEG1/2/2.5 Layer3 ( 8 kbps ~ 320kbps, 8khz ~ 48khz),

WMA, ASF (48kbps ~ 192kbps, 8khz ~ 48khz), and Ogg (QO ~ Q9) codecs. [42] The Player Unit consists of smaller sub-units, such as Electronic Circuit Board

(110), Control Buttons (120), and LCD Display (130). The technical details of the mechanism of the Player Unit (100) is no different from other mp3 players and it will not covered in this document. [43] One thing to note is that Circuit Board (110) is Bluetooth-capable and enables

Bluetooth connection to a user's mobile phone as hands-free kit. Of course, it can connect to any Bluetooth-capable devices. [44] Control Buttons (120) has Bluetooth switch that a user can turn it on or off, play,

volume control, and skip buttons for mp3 play. LCD Display Unit (100) shows currently playing file name or radio reception strength if radio is selected. In case USB memory mode is selected, it displays whole and remaining memory status. Memory Unit (200) is embedded inside of a temple (20) and supplies mp3 data to the Player Unit. It uses flash memory. Power Supply (300) is installed adjacent to Memory Unit (200) inside of a right temple (20) and supplies power from lithium polymer rechargeable battery. It can play 128 kbps mp3 files up 12 continuous hours in average volume 20. Memory Unit (200), Power Supply (300), and Circuit Board (110) are protected under Unit Cover (3) with bolts (31) on. Hinge or special rolling slide cover can be used for ease of removal instead. Thin spread electric cables are used to connect Memory Unit (200), Power Supply Unit (300), and Circuit Unit (11). This will reduces the risk of short-circuit and also it must be flexible and long enough to be folded along with the temple of the frame. Output Terminals (400) is installed on both sides of the arm (10, 20) and send signals to earphones or external speakers. Earphones (41) can be connected for personal use and external speakers as well.

[45] Earphone Bed (500) is attached on the both sides of temples. Earphones can be fitted into the groove of the Earphone Bed (500). The cable must be long enough and extendable. A user can remove the earphones from Earphone Bed (500) and use them. When they are not in use, they are fitted into the groove on the Earphone Bed (500) safely and gracefully. USB 2.0 port (600) is installed adjacent to Memory Unit (200) for high-speed data transfer and power supply.

[46] With Mode Switch (700) lets a user can select among mp3 play, radio, and portable

USB memory, and the choice is displayed on Display Unit (110) of the player (100) accordingly. More detailed information such as currently playing file name, selected radio channel and whole storage and remaining size are displayed according to each mode selection. The frame is made from 95% to 99.9% magnesium and 0.01% to 0.5% of the zinc or aluminum. It is ideal to use 99% of magnesium and 1% of zinc or aluminum to facilliate optimum block of harmful electromagnetic wave, to achieve the best sound quality and the radio reception, and to be environmental friendly.

[47] The folio wings are brief introduction of how to use the MFG (Multi-function glasses)

[48] In order to listen to mp3 music, select MP3 playback mode using Mode Switch

(700) and play the file. Use Control Buttons (120) and adjust volume. To listen to radio, change to radio mode and select any channel with Control Buttons (120). You can remove earphones (410) from Earphone Bed (500). The Display Unit (130) will show relative information such as currently playing file name, lyrics if available and chosen radio channel. In order to use it as memory stick, select Memory Mode and download or upload any data via USB 2.0 port. Then the Display Unit (130) will show

how much memory is used and left. If you turn on Bluetooth on Bluetooth Switch (121), the earphones (410) will be connected to your Bluetooth mobile phone and you can use the MFG (Multi-function Glasses) as Bluetooth hands-free kit.

[49] The concept of MFG (Multi-function Glasses) is not limited to the above specification, and many variations and modification can derive from this prototype. This patent claim is to cover all those modification and variations. Industrial Applicability

[50] Optical glasses, mp3 player, radio, portable USB memory, magnesium frame, and

Bluetooth hands-free kit.
