Abstract:
It is possible to provide a multi-layer disc which can easily be manufactured
and its information recording/reproducing device. A multi-layer disc is built
by layering a plurality of recording layers (or recording surfaces) on which
information data is recorded and a reference servo surface on which a plurality
of tracking control guide tracks of different spiral forms are formed in a spiral
shape from inner to outer circumference of the disc or from the outer to inner circumference
of the disc. When information data is recorded or reproduced onto/from the multi-layer
disc, the following operations are executed. That is, a first laser beam for recording
or reading information data is applied to one of the recording layers (or recording
surfaces) and a second laser beam is applied to the reference servo surface for
tracking control. Tracking control is performed so that the second laser beam
is applied to the guide track.
