Description:
MULTI-PURPOSE LED PANEL BULB AND FRAME FOR LIGHTING

Field of invention

The present invention relates in general to a LED light system which is modular in nature and in particular a system which is designed to be modular in terms of the permanent fixture that can be permanently or temporarily placed on the ceiling despite the type of ceiling with removable LED bulb with magnets which may or may not be used in tandem with the fixture.

Background and prior art

Since the advent of the LED lights, there has been a clear advantage of these type of lights over the previous incandescent CFL, mercury and other types of artificial lighting sources. The advantages of LED over the traditional lighting system are manifold, such as the cost of manufacturing is much lower as it can be produced in automated industrial scale factories where the margin of error and defects in the product, and the raw material used are so cheap that these are a much more viable and economical option. The range of colour which can be produced by these diodes are much larger and can be manufactured in any light wavelength needed so much so that they even cross over to infrared and ultraviolet ranges with many adaptable features such as soft-lighting of indoor lighting and special spectrums of light specially designed for indoor grow in hydroponics for city farming. The heat emitted by the LED over a period of time would be much less compared to the other forms of lighting as there the fundamental principle is on the resistance of the coil, which in turn means a high amount of heat is produced. One extremely important result of using LED is the drastic decrease in light pollution and the fact that cities which have progressed towards the implementation of LED in the street have reported more visible stars in the sky.

With the rapid adaptation of LED into the streets and homes, there need to be better and more intelligent solutions for the necessary and innovative uses of these lighting systems; which of course include the diode itself, the housing of the diode, reflectors to spread out the light efficiently, diffusers for the appropriate settings etc.

Few manufacturers of LED lighting system have come up with useful and innovative solutions to the modern lighting requirements, however, they have only been able to address certain issues which are more pertinent to the engineering and electrical aspects of the lighting systems.

For example, a lighting system available in the market may be for traditional bulb sockets which are already placed on the walls and ceilings of the room, however, the same bulb would not be used in a false ceiling which is truly unfortunate as such a system would eliminate a long list of production requirements, raw materials and ultimately waste generated. Such a system would also eliminate the need for different types of attachment systems for different types of socketing areas.

The present invention had aroused when a need for such a modular, easy to install, easy to use and an overall efficient lighting system was needed. The present device has multiple advantages over the present LED lighting systems in use. The first being that the same equipment can be used to fit on a wall, and on areas such as metallic or non-metallic false ceilings where additional settings need to be installed. When such a system is installed, a system of magnets and screws enable you to easily remove the bulb without removing the panel setup and angle the bulb to your desired angle in any of the four directions, essentially making it projected LED light system if needed.

If the LED has stopped functioning, the LED bulb can easily be removed and a new one can be installed without the hassle of removing the panel frame completely and can be done extremely easily.

Objectives of the invention

The primary objective of the invention is to produce a modular type of LED lighting system which can be easily installed and removed by anyone on their normal wall- mounted blub plug, metallic or non-metallic false ceilings without any hassle.

The secondary object of the invention is to obliterate the issue of removing the frame of the LED panel when removing the LED bulb; the present invention overcomes the issue by developing a system which separates the frame from the LED. This objective has been achieved by utilizing neodymium magnet which holds the LED panel in position when in use and the panel can be removed with no special skills or tools. The third objective is to bring about a revolutionary aesthetic change in the direction of lighting. The present invention has managed to do this by placing four screws in the frame which can be unscrewed to a certain length to provide an elevated LED panel or even an uneven level for the fixture of the LED panel which in turn would make it projected lighting.

Summary

The present invention is a Multi-Purpose LED Panel Bulb and Frame is a device which has been created to address the specific needs of the consumer who needs to have a modular type of LED lighting system which is an improvement in normal LED lighting systems available in the market. The adaptability of the system to fit all the user demands are the greatest features of the lighting system. The frame of the system has screws to which the magnets would be attached to and these screws are the components which adjusts the length of protrusion of the LED bulb or the angle of the same.

The lighting system has been designed with two separate parts; the LED bulb itself with magnets and a frame with a plurality of screw setup. In case the bulb is to be mounted on a normal wall-mounted bulb holder, it may be used as a normal bulb would be. This light system has the shortest vertical height and has been designed to prevent any damage to the false ceiling where the conventional systems would damage the ceiling when the LED panel is removed.

As another embodiment, if the bulb is to be placed on a ferromagnetic false ceiling or area, the bulb would not need any additional frame as the neodymium magnets would then join the bulb to the false ceiling or area. In this case too, no additional setup is required but the hole to fit the bulb to the bulb holder.

In case the bulb is to be mounted to a non-ferromagnetic area and is to mounted to a normal false ceiling or the wall of the building, the frame would be fit into the hole as a recessed LED light would be. Besides that, the advantage of the present system is that in case the LED needs to be replaced, the entire system including the frame would not be removed as in the normal case. The LED bulb, which is magnetically secured to the frame can be removed by inserting a thin tool such as a screwdriver and can be nudged out to be replaced with another LED bulb. The Frame also comes with a combination of 4 screws which can be tightened or loosened to vary the distance of the bulb from the frame. This would enable the user to have an elevated bulb by unscrewing the screws to the same distance from zero point, or even a projected bulb to increase the aesthetic impact of the light by loosening the desired screws to any length from zero point and can achieve an angle of luminance of anywhere between 120° to 270°; this is achieved by having the magnets connect directly to the screw, therefore preventing any possibility of dislodging of bulb from the frame.

Detailed Description of drawings

The present invention consists of a Multi-Purpose LED bulb and Panel Frame wherein the LED bulb comprises of all conventional like diffuser, LED panel, AC- DC converter and LED driver, aluminium PCB, posts and screws for attachment etc. and an additional combination of neodymium magnets and the Panel frame is a separate component as opposed to the conventional recessed LED systems available in the market and is a great advantage for this system as the amount of work that goes into installation and management has been greatly reduced and can be performed by a layperson. It consists of a system of screws to which the magnets of the bulb would be attached to and the length of the screw can be changed in accordance to the angle desired by the user or the length of protrusion of the LED bulb from the frame. The Bulb diffuser (01) can be manufactured to be of any shape, size and thickness and while effectively diffuse direct light coming from the LED panel which is harmful to the human eye.

The unique design of the bulb enables the bulb to be multipurpose and can be used as a normal bulb, frameless panel bulb, and detachable panel light bulb. And has the light-emitting diodes(02) attached to it, which may be manufactured in the desired colour and brightness; this, in turn, is connected to 2mm corrugated aluminium PCB(03) and is attached to the frame with the posts(6) and the screw (07) used to mount the PCB to the frame.

The magnets (5) as shown in the diagram are neodymium magnets and are embedded in circular slots (08) in the body of the bulb. This is what is used to attach the bulb to ferromagnetic panels or the frame. These magnets, when placed inside the frame, would be aligned and attached to the cast iron screws (11) in the frame. These screws may be adjusted to vary the height of the LED panel and could also be arranged with an angle of luminance between 120° to 270°to make an aesthetically pleasing projection-type lighting.

We also have the AC main supply which is delivered to the bulb holder and through AC electrical source goes to AC-DC converter and LED Driver which then supplies power to the LED panel through the DC output which connects to the terminals of the LED mounted PCB.

The Bulb cap may be suitable for B22, E27, E14 connector systems and is attached to the bulb holder. In the LED panel Frame (10) which encloses the MLP by magnetic adhesion, we have the spring (12) attached which in turn is clipped to the ceiling.

Figure 1 shows the sectional view of the Multi-Purpose LED Bulb, which consists of a diffuser (01) on top in which has the function of diffusing the light to not harm the human eyes as the light directly emanating from the LED (02) may be harmful to the eyes. Here we also see the 2mm corrugated aluminium PCB (03) with the diodes attached to it. The PCB receives power from the DC connector which receives supply from the LED driver and AC-DC converted which in turn receives power from the wall socket through the AC connectors. The LED panel (03) is connected to the body of the bulb with screw (07) it to the posts (06). The magnets (05)located in the circular slots (08) in the bottom side of the bulb can be attached to a ferromagnetic area or the screws (11) in the LED panel frame (10).

Figure 2 shows the sectional view of the Light Panel Frame with screws, which consists of the spring mechanism (12) which is used to hold the frame in place to the ceiling, the frame itself and four screws (11). These screws (11) are an extremely important component in the Multipurpose LED system; they are the location where the magnets (05) in the bulb would adhere to. This enables the bulb to be securely positioned in the desired area. These screws (11) can be adjusted in height from the zero point in order to bring them all up or down at the same length to have an elevated LED bulb or have the height be different at different points to have an angle of luminance between 120° to 270° (13,14) to have different arrangements for projected LED light as desired by the user. Even when screws (11) are arranged in different heights, since the magnets (05) are attached to the screws (11), there is no chance of the bulb being dislodged.

These features also make the process of removing and replacing the bulb much easier and something which can be done by any layperson and not necessarily an electrician in the case of a conventional recessed LED panel. All that needs to be done is, to insert any this tool such as a flat head screwdriver, a metallic ruler or even a pocket knife and nudge the bulb out without the risk of damaging the ceiling or any components of the LED system.

Figure 3 shows the sectional view of the Multi-Purpose LED Bulb with Panel Frame. It clearly shows the components in the combination of LED bulb and the Panel Frame making up the Multipurpose LED panel, where the LED bulb has been recessed into the frame and the magnets (05) in the bulb has clearly and correctly attached itself to the screws (11) in the frame. It can be seen in the image that there is a clear distance between the screw head and the zero point of the screw (11) indicating that the bulb, in fact, is not completely recessed and that the distance from the frame can be adjusted by the user as they need it to be. Figure 4. shows the diffusion of light (14) with its angle of luminance at 120° with LED panel (01) at the same line as the frame (10) and this has been achieved with the screw(l 1) with magnets(05) attached to it, screwed down to its zero point Figure 5. shows the diffusion of light with its angle of luminance at 270°(13) with LED panel (01) elevated from the frame (10) using screws (11) unscrewed to its maximum height with the magnets (05) attached to it. The Frame comes with a combination of 4 screws which can be tightened or loosened to vary the distance of the bulb from the frame. This Multipurpose LED Bulb and panel would have a great potential in the usage in the home and office settings where the user need not be professionally trained to be an electrician and need not necessarily have the skills required previously to fix or remove the conventional types of recessed LED frames.
