Abstract:
A multi-stage shaft seal device according to one embodiment is equipped with a first seal section, a second seal section, and a third seal section, which are provided in sequence from the machine-interior side in a fluid leak passage formed between a rotary shaft or rotary member and a housing arranged so as to surround the rotary shaft or rotary member. The first seal section is configured to include a first runner and a first seal ring which form a noncontact seal surface. The second seal section is configured to include a second runner and a second seal ring which form a contact seal surface. The third seal section is configured to include a third runner and a third seal ring which form a contact seal surface. The multi-stage shaft seal device also is provided with a purge water supply path for supplying purge water to the third seal section, and a purge water discharge path for discharging the purge water supplied to the third seal section.
