Abstract:
The multi-type air conditioner according to the present invention comprises: an outdoor unit comprising a liquid pipe, through which liquid refrigerant flows, and a gas pipe, through which gaseous refrigerant flows; a plurality of indoor units, including a first indoor unit and a second indoor unit which are connected to the liquid pipe and the gas pipe and circulate the refrigerant; a gas pipe-connecting tube which is connected to the gas pipe and the plurality of indoor units and allows the flow of the refrigerant; and a liquid pipe-connecting tube which connects the liquid pipe with the plurality of indoor units and allows the flow of the refrigerant. The first indoor unit comprises: a first indoor heat exchanger comprising a first heat exchange unit, which transfers heat between indoor air and refrigerant, and a second heat exchange unit, which transfers heat between indoor air and refrigerant and is disposed so as to be stacked with the first heat exchange unit; a first indoor fan for blowing air towards the first and second heat exchange units; a first liquid branch duct which connects the liquid pipe with the first heat exchange unit and allows the flow of the refrigerant; a first gas branch duct which connects the gas pipe with the second heat exchange unit and allows the flow of the refrigerant; a first heat exchange unit-connecting pipe which is connected to the first heat exchange unit and allows the flow of the refrigerant; a second heat exchange unit-connecting pipe which is connected to the second heat exchange unit and allows the flow of the refrigerant; a return pipe having one side connected to the first gas branch duct and the other side connected to the first heat exchange unit-connecting pipe and the second heat exchange unit-connecting pipe; a first indoor expansion valve which is disposed on the second heat exchange unit-connecting pipe, and of which the degree of opening is controlled by an input signal of a control unit, thereby selectively expanding the flowing refrigerant; and a first expansion valve which is disposed on the return pipe, and of which the degree of opening is controlled by an input signal of the control unit, thereby selectively expanding the flowing refrigerant. The multi-type air conditioner according to the present invention can operate a first heat exchange unit of an indoor heat exchanger by means of a condenser, and a second heat exchange unit thereof by means of an evaporator, and thus has the advantage of being capable of continuously operating in a dehumidification mode while maintaining indoor temperatures within a predetermined range.
