Abstract:
A multicylinder engine unit (1) of an independent throttle type or an unequal interval combustion type is provided with: a plurality of independent exhaust pipes (12A, 12B); an aggregate pipe (13) including a catalyst (132); a pre-catalyst oxygen sensor group (14) provided between a plurality of cylinders and the catalyst in a path for exhaust gas; a post-catalyst oxygen sensor (15) that detects the proportion of oxygen in the exhaust gas having passed through the catalyst; and a control device (16). The control device (16) is configured to detect an air-fuel ratio imbalance between cylinders in a plurality of cylinders (11A, 11B) using a detection result detected by the pre-catalyst oxygen sensor group (14), and detect degradation of the catalyst using a detection result detected by all or a part of the pre-catalyst oxygen sensor group (14) and a detection result detected by the post-catalyst oxygen sensor (15).
