Abstract:
A multilayer ceramic electronic component in which intrusion of plating solution into a multilayer ceramic body can be suppressed or prevented, deterioration in insulating resistance and weatherabilty can be prevented, electrical connection reliability of an external electrode and an internal electrode layer is enhanced, and solderability of the external electrode is improved, and a method for manufacturing the same. The multilayer ceramic electronic component comprises a multilayer ceramic body (1) including ceramic layers (3) and an internal electrode layer (2 (2a, 2b)) arranged between the ceramic layers such that a part thereof is led out to the end face (4 (4a, 4b)), and an external electrode (5 (5a, 5b)) arranged on the end face to which the internal electrode layer is led out to be electrically continuous with the internal electrode layer. The exposed part (A) of the internal electrode layer led out onto the end face of the multilayer ceramic body is covered with a glass film (31) at at least one end in the longitudinal direction, and the internal electrode layer is connected electrically with the external electrode at the exposed part of the internal electrode layer not covered with the glass film.
