Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a production process which employs a mold method and which can impart a new function to a lens and thus enhance the added value of the lens and in which the production of a lens can be completed in one mold system without employing any treatment system that is separate from the mold system; and a lens obtained by the production process. A process for producing a contact lens having a multilayer structure by the use of molds, characterized by comprising: a step (a) for introducing a first polymerizable composition into a space configured by first and second molds, and polymerizing the first polymerizable composition to form a first semi-product which has a thickness and an outer diameter that are smaller than those of a polymerization lens respectively, said polymerization lens being a lens at a point of time that is after the completion of all the polymerization steps and just before mold release; a step (b) for opening the first and second molds; and a step (c) for introducing a second polymerizable composition into a space configured by a third mold and one of the first and second molds which bears the first semi-product fixed thereto, and polymerizing the second polymerizable composition.
