Abstract:
This method is for manufacturing a multilayer film provided with a base material and an optically anisotropic layer, the method comprising: a step for applying, on a surface of the base material, a liquid crystal composition containing a polymerizable liquid crystal compound that can realize reverse-wavelength dispersive birefringence and, forming a layer of the liquid crystal composition; and a step for polymerizing the polymerizable liquid crystal compound contained in the liquid crystal composition layer to obtain an optically anisotropic layer, wherein the surface free energy of the surface of the base material is not larger than 50 mN/m and the surface tension of the liquid crystal composition is not less than 26 mN/m.
