Abstract:
Improvement in a multiplexer providing a shunt connection or a switching circuit in a circuit which connects together a personal computer and a peripheral device using a general-purpose RS-232-C interface. The multiplexer has a first host-side, terminal (24) and a plurality of second, channel-side terminals (20 ... 23), constituted by an RS-232-C interface. In a first operating mode, on the basis of channel designation data arriving at the first host-side, terminal (24), one of the second, channel-side terminals (20 ... 23) is selected and connected to the first host-side, terminal (24). In a second operating mode, a connection request is detected from a signal on one of the second channel-side, terminals (20 ... 23), and the second channel-side, terminal requesting connection is connected to the first host-side, terminal (24).
