Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for producing an N-substituted maleimide polymer with which it is possible to obtain a polymer in which thermal discoloration is significantly suppressed when a polymer is produced using an N-substituted maleimide monomer and glycidyl (meth)acrylate. The present invention is a method for producing an N-substituted maleimide polymer, the method being characterized by having a step (I-2) for polymerizing a monomer component that includes an N-substituted maleimide monomer (a) and an unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer (b) to obtain a base polymer, and a step (I-3) for reacting glycidyl (meth)acrylate that has been adjusted to a chlorine content of 0.01-0.3 mass% with the base polymer to obtain an N-substituted maleimide polymer having a double bond in a side chain.
