Title:
NASOLACRIMAL DUCT TUBE USED FOR LACRIMAL DUCT REFORMATION OPERATION, AND NASOLACRIMAL DUCT TUBE INSTRUMENT
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2001/067995
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A nasolacrimal duct tube instrument which, when an operation for inserting a nasolacrimal duct tube is to be performed, makes it possible to directly view the operation in the dark nasal cavity by illumination and to perform the operation easily and reliably. A flexible light-transmitting probe tube portions (21) are respectively connected to the ends of a flexible detainment tube portion (20) having a diameter adapted for insertion into the lacrimal duct in such a manner as to form extensions of the detainment tube portion (20). The probe tube portions (21) are closed at their front ends (21a, 21b) and formed with openings (23) adjacent their proximal ends. During operation, a light emitting element, such as an optical fiber element (30), is inserted into the probe tube portion (21) through the opening (23). Thus, the light-transmitting probe tube portion (21) shines to illuminate the nasal cavity. This allows the operator to accurately seize the probe tube portion (21) in the nasal cavity and withdraw it. Instead of the light emitting element, a ultrasonic probe, an endoscope or the like may be inserted into the probe tube portion (21) to detect the position of the nasolacrimal duct tube.
