Abstract:
The invention relates to a device comprising a telecommunications network, a first interface between the telecommunications network and an autopilot system of a vessel for receiving, from the network, a speed vector setpoint for the vessel and transmitting the speed vector setpoint to the autopilot system to be used as a setpoint for steering the vessel, a second interface between the telecommunications network and an array of environmental sensors for receiving, from the sensors, maritime navigation information and sending this maritime navigation information over the telecommunications network, and a third interface between the telecommunications network and a computer for receiving the information sent by the second interface, calculating an optimal speed vector setpoint for the vessel allowing the vessel to comply with maritime navigation rules according to the information from the environmental sensors and broadcasting, to the first interface, the optimal speed vector setpoint to be used as the speed vector setpoint for the vessel.
