Abstract:
With regard to a negative electrode active material that contains negative electrode active material particles, the present invention is a negative electrode active material in which the negative electrode active material particles contain lithium and oxygen, have a ratio between oxygen and silicon of SiOX : 0.8 ≤ X ≤ 1.2, contain silicon compound particles that contain Li2SiO3, have an Si crystallite size of not more than 10 nm, are coated by a carbon coating film, and satisfy the relationship 2 ≤ P2/P1 ≤ 3.5 where, in x-ray diffraction using CuKα radiation, P1 is the peak height attributed to at least a portion of the lithium carbonate and appearing in the diffraction angle 2θ range of 20-21° and P2 is the peak height attributed to at least a portion of the Li2SiO3 and appearing in the diffraction angle 2θ range of 17-20°. There is thus provided a negative electrode active material that provides a high aqueous slurry stability and a high capacity and that exhibits good cycle characteristics and initial efficiency.
