Abstract:
A neutron beam detecting device according to the present invention is provided with: a first solar cell type detector which has attached to a surface thereof a converting film for converting neutrons into a charged particle beam of any of alpha particles, protons, lithium nuclei, gamma rays, and beta rays, or into photons, and which generates an electric current in response to the incidence of radiation; a radiation detector which, in response to the incidence of radiation, produces, as an output signal, an electric current that is insensitive to neutrons; current measuring instruments for detecting, as signals, an electric current generated by the first solar cell type detector and an electric current generated by the radiation detector in response to the incidence of radiation; and a flux calculating unit for comparing the electric current signals from the detectors, detected by the current measuring instruments. The flux calculating unit calculates the flux of a neutron beam by associating the detected electric current signals from the solar cell type detector and the radiation detector with a previously acquired relationship between the flux of incident radiation pertaining to a prescribed beam type and the detected currents from the solar cell type detector and the radiation detector.
