A heat-pump water heater with solar energy as a supplementary heat source, and a method for controlling same. The water heater comprises a water tank (7) and a refrigerant loop, wherein the refrigerant loop is formed by mutually connecting a compressor (1), a low-pressure liquid storage tank (2), a throttle valve (4) and an evaporator (5) by means of a four-way valve (3); the evaporator (5) is a finned evaporator; the throttle valve (4) is connected to an S end of the four-way valve (3) and the low-pressure liquid storage tank (2) by means of a capillary tube; a formed controlled return-air superheat degree loop is controlled by means of solenoid valves mounted on the capillary tube; and a system is provided with a sensing bulb, so as to control the turning-on/-off of the solenoid valves by means of calculating a superheat degree. By means of the heat-pump water heater with solar energy as a supplementary heat source, and the method for controlling same, the comprehensive utilization efficiency of wind and light can be improved, the energy saving effect is obvious, and the problems of an excessively high exhaust temperature and an excessively high pressure caused by an excessively high return-air superheat degree are effectively avoided.
