Abstract:

This invention provides a method which comprises subjecting compressed air introduced into a high-pressure column (11) to supercold separation, reservoiring liquid air (13) at the bottom, withdrawing nitrogen in a gaseous state from the top, introducing the liquid air (13) at the bottom of the high pressure column (11) into a low pressure column (12), subjecting the liquid air (13) introduced into the low pressure column (12) to supercold separation, reservoiring oxygen-rich liquid air (22) at the bottom, withdrawing nitrogen in a gaseous state as a product gas from the top, introducing nitrogen withdrawn from the top of the high pressure column (11) into a condenser (16) for liquefaction, refluxing a part of the liquid nitrogen into the high pressure column (11) while feeding the remaining nitrogen into the top of the low pressure column (12), and introducing liquid nitrogen or liquid oxygen in a cold state from the outside of the system into the low pressure column. In this method, the liquid air (13) withdrawn through a take-out pipe (20) from a part where the number of theoretical plates is set to a range of 1 to 10 stages from the column bottom side in the rectification part (12a) of the low pressure column (12) is introduced. This method can significantly reduce the amount of the raw material air and can significantly reduce the power consumption, the amount of coldness, and the cost of equipment.
