Abstract:
Disclosed are a noncontact IC card reader and a data reading method therefore which are capable of improving data reading accuracy while preventing a decrease in processing speed. Specifically, for a noncontact IC card reader (1) which transmits signals, which are comprised of amplitude modulated carrier signals, for a noncontact IC card, the noncontact IC card and noncontact IC card reader (1) communicate by means of an NRZ encoding method and by means of an ASK modulation method for which the modulation depth has an arbitrary value. The noncontact IC card reader (1) is provided with a noncontact control means (noncontact control (IC20)) that modulates/demodulates signals transmitted to/received from the noncontact IC card, and a main control means (main CPU (10)) that is electrically connected to the noncontact control means and that controls the entire card reader. Based on commands transmitted from the main control means, the modulation depth, which is varied by the noncontact control means, has multiple range widths with an arbitrary value as the standard.
