Title:
NONTON OSMOTIC DEVICE OR METHOD FOR GENERATING AN ORIENTED FLOW OF A SUBSTANCE THROUGH A PERMISSIVE MEMBRANE SURFACE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1997/036671
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention may be used for generating a flow of a circulating substance used as a working body in turbines, piston engines and cooling equipment. This method for generating an oriented flow of a substance comprises forcing this flow through the surface of a permissive membrane (2) from one side (3) of a sealed volume (1) to the other (4). An oriented field defining dipoles (6) is generated parallel to the plane of the membrane surface (2). The dipoles (6) have their primary axis (7), which corresponds to their maximal dimension, oriented along the force lines of the field and parallel to the plane of the permissive membrane surface (2), thus preventing any back-flow of oriented molecules through the membrane (2). The dimension (or diameter) of the pores (5) in the membrane (2) is lower than the maximum dimension of a dipole (6) but larger than its minimum dimension.
