Abstract:

Provided are a novel type I natural ceramide derivative composed of sphingosine and ω-acyloxy long-chain carboxylic acid and having a structure closer to that of type I natural ceramide; and a method for producing the same. The derivative is obtained by reacting a ω-acyloxy long-chain fatty acid derivative with dihydrosphingosine or a salt thereof. The thus obtained novel type I natural ceramide derivative can significantly improve the compatibility of ceramides by blending the derivative in combination with another ceramide. Therefore, the preparation of a composition containing ceramide such as a moisturizing agent or a cosmetic is facilitated, and also the storage stability of the composition can be increased.
