Abstract:
It is intended to provide a novolak type phenol resin for shell molding by which the problem of gas defect caused by tar during casting and the problem of casting defects typified by veining can be solved at the same time. As a novolak type phenol resin in an RCS for shell molding, a novolak type phenol resin of the co-condensation type, which is obtained by reacting phenol, an alkylphenol and an aldehyde and has an ortho/para binding ratio specifying the methylene group structure of 1.5 or higher, is employed and fireproof grains are coated by it.
