Abstract:
Provided is an object type identifying apparatus that is capable of correctly identifying the types of objects held in a hand of a person. This object type identifying apparatus is provided with: a position acquisition means for acquiring the positions of objects; a storage means for storing information indicating the type of each of the objects at the respective positions thereof; a determination means for determining whether the object has been taken out or mounted on the basis of sensor information; an object identifying means for, when the determination means determines that the object has been taken out, identifying the type of the taken-out object on the basis of the output of the positon acquisition means and the information stored in the storage means; and an update means for updating the information stored in the storage means by using an image captured by a camera that captures the arrangement of each of the objects from the front when the determination means determines that the object has been mounted.
