Abstract:
An occupant sensing device (400) for sensing an occupant riding in a vehicle, the occupant sensing device comprising: an occupant sensing unit (420) for outputting, for the respective seat locations of occupants, a sensing result pertaining to the occupants sensed by using radio waves; an output determination unit (460) for determining whether to accept the sensing results from the occupant sensing unit in accordance with an amount of vibration of the vehicle, and outputting the sensing results if accepted; a storage control unit (490) for causing a storage unit to store, in association with the seat location inside the vehicle, the sensing results outputted by the output determination unit, and thereafter outputting same; and a movement sensing unit (480) for sensing movement of each of the occupants sensed by a means other than radio waves, and outputting location information for each of the occupants. If the movement sensing unit has sensed movement of an occupant in a state where no sensing result is outputted from the output determination unit, then the storage control unit uses the location information of each of the occupants to modify the associations between the sensing results and the seat locations stored in the storage unit, and thereafter outputs information indicative of the post-modification sensing results and seat locations.
