Abstract:
An oil composition for heat treatment comprising an oil base mixture consisting of (A) 50 to 95 wt.% low−viscosity oil base having a dynamic viscosity as measured at 40°C of 5 to 60 mm2&sol s and (B) 50 to 5 wt.% high−viscosity oil base having a dynamic viscosity as measured at 40°C of 300 mm2&sol s or higher. With the oil composition, a metallic material during quenching is less apt to suffer unevenness of cooling and the hardness of the quenched work can be secured. Furthermore, quench distortion can be reduced.
