Abstract:
Provided are: an oil-in-water type emulsion composition for creamy cosmetics, which contains no synthetic surfactant, rarely undergoes syneresis and therefore has excellent stability, and also has an excellent comfort during application; and a cosmetic. An oil-in-water type emulsion composition for creamy cosmetics, which comprises water, an oily component, a fatty acid and a fatty acid alkali salt and has a viscosity of 500 to 100,000 mPa·s. In the composition, substantially no synthetic surfactant is contained, the fatty acid comprises behenic acid, stearic acid and palmitic acid, the total amount of the fatty acid and the fatty acid alkali salt is 3 to 11% by weight relative to the whole amount of the composition, the (behenic acid)/(stearic acid)/(palmitic acid) ratio in the fatty acid is (15 to 65)/(5 to 85)/(0 to 80) by weight, the fatty acid alkali salt is a sodium or potassium salt of a C12-C22 saturated fatty acid, and the fatty acid alkali salt is contained in an amount of 20 to 45% by weight relative to the total amount of the fatty acid and the fatty acid alkali salt contained in the composition.
