Abstract:
[Problem] To provide an omni-directional rotational drive mechanism and a moving body that allow reduction in the number of components so as to enable easy production and maintenance and to enable downsizing. [Solution] Rotating bodies 12 are provided to a wheel member 11 so as to be rotatable about ring-shaped shafts, the center of which is a rotational shaft of the wheel member 11. In addition, the rotating bodies 12 are configured to integrally rotate together with the wheel member 11 around the rotational shaft of the wheel member 11. A pair of worms 13 are provided so as to be rotatable coaxially with the rotational shaft of the wheel member 11. A pair of worm wheels 14 are provided to the wheel member 11 so as to be rotatable by separately meshing with the respective worms 13 and so as to be able to transmit the rotations to the corresponding one of the rotating bodies 12. The present invention is configured such that the rotating bodies 12 rotate or stop in conjunction with the wheel member 11 in accordance with the rotational direction and the rotation speed of each of the worms 13.
