Abstract:
Provided are an onboard communication device, an onboard communication system, and a vehicle specific process prohibiting method, with which it is possible to prevent unlimited provision of a specific service. The onboard communication system can perform an update process for a relay processing program of a gateway, utilizing either a wireless communication pathway through a wireless communication device or a communication pathway through a communication cable connected to a connector part. The gateway performs an authentication process upon receiving an authentication request via either communication pathway, and when the authentication process has succeeded, the gateway performs an update process by receiving a relay processing program for updating via the communication pathway and overwriting the stored relay processing program. At this time, the gateway prohibits update processes through communication pathways other than the communication pathway used for the authentication process by prohibiting authentication processes performed through communication pathways other than the communication pathway used for the authentication process.
