This onboard device is connected to an other onboard device through a first transmission line and a second transmission line which are different types of transmission lines. The onboard device is provided with: a control unit; and a transmission unit that transmits communication information to the other onboard device. The control unit: selects, depending on the contents of the communication information, the first transmission line or the second transmission line, at least, as a transmission line to be used for transmitting the communication information; and causes the transmission unit to transmit the communication information through the selected transmission line.
