Abstract:
This onboard device is mounted in a vehicle, the onboard device accepting provision of a service from an external device, wherein: the onboard device includes a communication unit that transmits prescribed data to the external device, an evaluation unit that evaluates the state of an external environment of the onboard device, an assessment unit that assesses whether or not a first process is to be executed in accordance with the result of evaluation by the evaluation unit, and a processing unit that accepts an assessment by the assessment unit that the first process is to be executed and executes the first process on the prescribed data; the external environment includes the speed of wireless communication between the onboard device and the external device; the service is provided due to the result of the external device having executed a second process on the prescribed data being transmitted to the onboard device; and the first process is the same as at least part of the second process.
