Abstract:
The present invention provides an open-type mixed flow impeller which is capable of suppressing leakage flow at a blade tip. An open-type mixed flow impeller (20) according to the present invention is provided with a plurality of rotatable blades (1). Each blade (1) has a blade tip (5) situated at an end in the radial direction of rotation, but is not provided with a lateral plate that covers the entirety of the blade tip (5). The blade (1) has disposed at a portion of the blade tip (5) thereof one or more protrusions (10) that protrude toward the radially outer side. It is preferable for the protrusion(s) (10) to be disposed at a position where a centrifugal force caused by the rotation of the blade (1) causes the blade tip (5) to undergo a deformation of a magnitude greater than a predetermined value.
