Abstract:
Provided is an operating method for a metal refining furnace that can control against deformation of a furnace body due to expansion of refractories of the metal refining furnace. Displacement meters 8-1 through 8-42 are disposed around a furnace body 2 at predetermined intervals, the overall displacement of the furnace body 2 is periodically measured at predetermined timing, and when displacement in at least one location exceeds a preset upper-limit value, control is performed so as to reduce the operating temperature in the furnace body 2 such that the displacement of the furnace body 2 is brought down to at most the upper-limit value. In addition, the renewal time for the furnace body 2 is determined from a residual linear expansion coefficient of the furnace body 2 and a displacement limit of frames constituting the furnace. Consequently, not only can expansion and deformation of the furnace body 2 be kept within a predetermined range, but the furnace materials can also be renewed at appropriate timing.
