Abstract:
This optical branching circuit manufacturing method comprises: a step 1 for mounting an optical fiber core wire in a jig in which the optical fiber core wire is housed, and polishing the optical fiber core wire, together with the jig, up to the vicinity of a core of the optical fiber core wire or up to the core; a step 2 for applying a refractive index matching material having a lower refractive index than the refractive index of the core of the optical fiber core wire to a polished surface of the optical fiber core in the jig polished in the step 1 or a polished surface of an optical waveguide circuit previously polished up to the vicinity of a core or up to the core, and joining the polished surfaces; and a step 3 for aligning the polished surfaces joined in the step 2, and moving the jig or the optical waveguide circuit to a position at which a desired branching ratio is obtained.
