Abstract:
This invention relates to an optical communication system wherein some of ring nodes operate as OLTs each of which executes a processing to allocate an upstream band to ONUs and wherein each node operating as the OLT treats ONUs, which are in charge of the same remote node, as a single ONU group and has a first band allocation function for distributing the upstream band, which has been allocated to the local system, to each ONU group on the basis of an upstream band allocation request amount from each ONU and the number of ONUs belonging to the ONU group, and a second band allocation function for re-distributing, for each ONU group, the upstream band, which was distributed by the first band allocation function, to each ONU in the group on the basis of the upstream band allocation request amount from each ONU.
