Abstract:
This optical communication system, in which a station-side device and multiple subscriber-side devices are structured according to a bus network topology, comprises an optical amplification unit installed on a station side and a drop unit for branching an optical signal and excitation light, wherein the optical amplification unit comprises an amplifier for amplifying a downstream signal and an excitation light output unit for outputting to a communication path the excitation light for amplifying an upstream signal, and the drop unit changes the branching ratio according to the wavelength of the optical signal in such a manner that transmission loss of the excitation light for a main fiber is reduced.
