Title:
OPTICAL COMPONENT HAVING HYDROPHILIC FILM
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2015/029214
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Optical components such as lenses and mirrors used in cameras, projectors, and the like have had the problem of being prone to fogging up in humid environments, reducing visibility. This invention provides an optical component characterized by transmitting and focusing light or reflecting light. Said optical component is also characterized in that: a film comprising silicon-dioxide particles and a silicon-dioxide binder is provided on the surface of the optical component that transmits or reflects light; and the silicon-dioxide particles on the side affixed to the optical component are larger in diameter than those on the side in contact with an air layer. In particular, the silicon-dioxide particles on the side affixed to the optical component have a mean diameter in the 40-100 nm range, and those on the side in contact with the air layer have a mean diameter in the 10-15 nm range. This results in high visibility even if there is only a tiny amount of water on the surface of the optical component that transmits or reflects light.
