Abstract:
[Problem] To improve an Add/Drop ratio while suppressing the device scale of an ROADM. [Solution] Provided is an ROADM equipped with a wavelength cross-connect unit connected to a plurality of paths; and a transponder housing function unit for relaying an optical signal from the wavelength cross-connect unit to respective transponders, wherein the transponder housing function unit is configured by cascade-connecting, in a plurality of stages, elements E that are wavelength-selective switches each provided with one input port that receives the optical signal from the direction of the wavelength cross-connect unit, and a plurality of output ports that each transmit the optical signal toward the respective transponders, and a plurality of elements E to which the optical signal is propagated from the same path of the wavelength cross-connect unit, and which are located in the same stage of the cascade connection are multiplexed as one module.
