Abstract:
Through the distance measurement device and distance measurement method pertaining to the present embodiment, the occurrence of a first event in which the intensity of a reflected light detection signal outputted from a detection unit exceeds a first threshold value, and the occurrence of a second event in which the intensity of the detection signal is less than a second threshold value less than or greater than the first threshold value are each counted for each of a pre-set elapsed time from projection of measurement light by a light projection unit, and integration result (i.e., a histogram) obtained by integrating the count for a plurality of light projections is used as a basis, whereby a target signal originating from reflected light is extracted from a detection signal including random noise originating from external light, the detection time from projection of light to detection by the detection unit is determined, and the distance to an object can be precisely determined.
