Title:
OPTICAL DETECTION DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2003100365
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
Disclosed is an optical detection device for detecting an intensity of a light beam in a detection window (15) and for collecting data transmitted by the light beam. Said optical detection device comprises a first detection diode (25), an array of at least two second detection diodes (21a-24d) located within a detection window, a first readout circuit (35) which reads out the first detection diode at a first readout speed so as to collect the data, and a second readout circuit (30) which reads out the second detection diodes at a second readout speed that is smaller than the first readout speed so as to detect the intensity of the light beam. The invention is characterized by the fact that the array of additional detection diodes located within the detection window makes it possible to control in a more effective and technically less complex manner the alignment of the light beam transmitting the data with the detection window, a fact that outweighs the initial additional expense caused by providing the optical detection device with additional detection diodes in the detection window and the resulting reduction of the surface of the detection window, which can effectively be used for collecting data.
