Abstract:
An optical device (24) comprising three optical modulators (24A) for modulating each chromatic light according to image information, a cross-dichroic prism (244) for synthesizing each chromatic light modulated by each optical modulator (24A), a pedestal (247) fixed to the upper and lower surfaces of the cross-dichroic prism (244) and consisting of a heat-conductive material, an outputting-side polarization plate (243) having polarization films (243A2, 243B2) as optical conversion films for converting the optical characteristics of light fluxes output from optical modulators (24A) and substrates (243A1, 243B1) to which polarization films (243A2, 243B2) are respectively pasted and which consist of a heat-conductive material, and an output-side support/fix plate (246) which supports and fixes output-side polarization plate (243) and consists of a heat-conductive material, the output-side support/fix plate (246) being fixed to the side surface of the pedestal (247).
