Abstract:
The present invention provides: an optical element which, when applied to a display device requiring viewing angle control, has higher viewing angle controllability for an azimuth angle such that makes viewing from a specific azimuth angle impossible; a laminate; and an image display device. This optical element is obtained by immobilizing a liquid crystal compound twist-aligned along a helical axis, the angle formed between the helical axis and the normal direction of the surface of the optical element is 10-90°, and the optical element contains a dichroic material.
