Abstract:
An optical fiber for optical amplification comprising a silica glass optical fiber constituting a core and cladding covering the outer circumference of the core; wherein the core contains 0.5 to 3 wt% of Yb, 3 to 15 wt% of P, and 0 to 10 wt% of Al; the concentration ratio of P and Yb contained in the core (P concentration (wt%)/Yb concentration (wt%)) is 3 or more; and the concentration ratio of P and Al contained in the core (P concentration (wt%)/Al concentration (wt%)) is 1 or more.
