Abstract:
This optical fiber end face observing device is a device for observing an end face of an optical fiber including a glass optical fiber, and a covering portion covering an outer circumference of the glass optical fiber. The optical fiber includes a covered region in which the glass optical fiber is covered by the covering portion, and a protruding region in which the glass optical fiber protrudes from a covering end face, which is an end face of the covering portion. The device comprises a light source for emitting light onto a reflecting surface which causes reflected light to be incident on a side surface of the protruding region, and a camera for acquiring an observation image of a glass end face of the protruding region.
