Abstract:
Provided is an optical fiber illumination device utilizing optical fiber which is not produced using a special method, and having an improved amount of luminescence from a side surface. This optical fiber illumination device (1) comprises: an optical fiber bundle (10) which has a plurality of optical fibers and a resin outer coating (101) covering the plurality of bundled optical fibers and radiating light, and in which a first end and a second end thereof are polished; and a first light source which is disposed close to the first end so as to emit, onto the optical fiber bundle, light having a broader angle range than the opening angle of the plurality of optical fibers.
