Abstract:
A process fiber (50) having a core (51) extending along the central axis, and a clad (55) covering the circumference of the core (51) is provided with a peripheral part (52) forming the periphery of a cross section of the core which is obtainable by vertically cutting the core (51). The peripheral part (52) includes seven sides (53), and seven corners (54) respectively connecting the sides (53) adjacent to the corners (54) so that the seven sides (53) are continuous. The corners (54) each have a R-shape along a circumcircle (Co) circumscribed in the peripheral part (52). When the diameter of the circumcircle (Co) is O, the diameter of an inscribed circle (Ci) inscribed in the peripheral part (52) is I, and the number of the corners is n (n is an odd number), the diameter ratio α that is the ratio of the diameter O of the circumcircle (Co) and the diameter I of the inscribed circle (Ci) has a predetermined condition.
