Abstract:
Provided are an optical fiber relay apparatus and a sewerage pipe communication system that allow multiple types of sensors to measure sensing data even under an environment of no power supply in a sewerage pipe. An optical fiber relay apparatus located in a sewerage pipe and connected by use of a multiple-core optical fiber cable comprises: an optical termination unit for extracting a particular optical fiber from the multiple-core optical fiber cable; an optical power reception unit; an optical connector; and an electric connector, the optical fiber relay apparatus being characterized in that the optical power reception unit obtains, as a driving power, a power by use of light from the optical fiber, converts signals from the electric connector to optical signals and sends the optical signals to the optical fiber, thereby transmitting/receiving the optical signals by use of the optical fiber provided between the optical connector and the optical termination unit, wherein the optical fiber is fusion-spliced in the optical termination unit.
