Abstract:

[Problem] When bundling members are wound in an SZ shape around an optical fiber bundle, an optical fiber may become non-bundled if there is a faulty join at a place where the winding direction of a bundling member is reversed. [Solution] The present invention provides an optical fiber unit that is provided with: an optical fiber bundle in which a plurality of optical fibers are bundled together; and a plurality of bundling members. Each bundling member is wound around the outer periphery of the optical fiber bundle in a longitudinal direction of the optical fiber bundle while the winding direction of the bundling member is alternately reversed, and is joined to another bundling member at winding reverse places where the winding direction is reversed. Within a region encompassed by a pair of bundling members that are to be joined to each other at the winding reverse places, there is a joining point of another pair of bundling members joining at a winding reverse place.
