Abstract:
Provided are an optical member having high polarized-light selectivity, an illumination device, and a screen. The present invention has a light guide member for guiding light in the inside thereof, and a cholesteric liquid crystal layer layered on one principal surface of the light guide member, the cholesteric liquid crystal layer being formed using a liquid crystal compound, the molecular axis of the liquid crystal compound being inclined relative to the principal surface of the cholesteric liquid crystal layer, and the orientation of the molecular axis of the liquid crystal compound changing while continuously rotating along at least one in-plane direction on at least one principal surface among the pair of principal surfaces of the cholesteric liquid crystal layer.
