Title:
OPTICAL MEMBERS AND MICROSCOPE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2012/002542
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Disclosed are optical members and a microscope that enable brighter, sharper images for observation to be obtained when fluorescence imaging is performed with photic stimulation. Illuminating light from a laser unit (21) is separated into stimulating light and excitation light by a dichroic mirror (40A). In other words, half of the illuminating light passes through the dichroic mirror (40A) and becomes stimulating light, and half of the illuminating light is reflected by the dichroic mirror (40A) and becomes excitation light. Half of the excitation light is reflected by a dichroic mirror (43A) and irradiates a sample (14), and half of the stimulating light passes through the dichroic mirror (43A) and irradiates the sample (14). The fluorescence produced from the sample (14) is completely reflected by the dichroic mirror (43A) and the dichroic mirror (40A), and is received by a photodetector (48). By separating the stimulating light and the excitation light at a specified ratio, and using dichroic mirrors to completely reflect fluorescence, a reduction in the amount of fluorescence can be minimized. The optical members and microscope can be used in a confocal microscope.
