Abstract:
The present invention relates to an optical module in which an optical element and an optical transmission member for board high capacity data high-speed transmission in an apparatus or high capacity data high-speed transmission between apparatuses are included and modularized, and an optical alignment between the optical element and the optical transmission member is completed inside the module, thereby preventing an optical alignment error that can be generated when the optical module is mounted on an exterior PCB substrate. The present invention relates to an optical module comprising: an optical transmission member (100); an optical element (200) as the optical transmission member (100); a substrate (210); an electrode pad (220) between the optical element (200) and an external circuit; and an optical block (300) provided with an optical transmission member mounting part, wherein the optical transmission member mounting part is formed such that optical transmission efficiency is maximized in an optical axis direction on the optical block. Also, the present invention relates to a method for manufacturing an optical module, the method comprising the steps of: mounting and installing the optical element (200) on one surface of the substrate (210); calculating a location on a two-dimensional plane of a light incident/exit point of the optical element (200); forming a base material of the optical block (300) in order to embed the optical element (200) on the substrate (210), and then forming the optical transmission member mounting part (310) on the two-dimensional plane location of the light incident/exit point calculated in the preceding step; and mounting the optical transmission member (100) on the optical transmission member mounting part (310).
